MEET DR. KNOPES
JULIA KNOPES, Ph.D. is a Research Scientist in the Case Western Reserve University Department of Bioethics. She completed her Ph.D. in Anthropology at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Knopes holds a M.A. in Humanities from the University of Chicago, and a B.A. in English summa cum laude from Washington & Jefferson College. Dr. Knopes' research integrates approaches from medical anthropology, medical and health humanities, bioethics, and disability studies. Her areas of research are medical education and mental health, with a broader focus on the nature of boundaries: both interpersonal boundaries that shape mental health, and the boundaries of scientific knowledge that clinicians learn to cope with in education and practice. Dr. Knopes is a volunteer for the National Alliance on Mental Illness. She believes strongly in elevating the voices of people with serious mental illness. |
